The Daytona Beach real estate market is still much more affordable then most waterfront communities in the state of Florida. You can still buy a lovely home here for a reasonable price. To our north Flagler County continues to be the fastest growing county in the United States and even with the recent real estate slowdown the real estate market in Flagler remains strong.

"The World's Most Famous Beach"

Known as "The World's Most Famous Beach'', Daytona Beach and the surrounding areas offer great weather, soft sandy beaches, and lots of wonderful activities. Whether you like fishing, racing, boating surfing, golfing. tennis, sky- diving, or great dining and dancing. it's all here, year round. It's the home of NASCAR, Hawaiian Tropic, the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), the world's largest Harley-Davidson dealership, and the Florida home of the United States Tennis Association (USTA).

Daytona sits on the Atlantic coast at the north end of the I-4 corridor'' which stretches south-west through Orlando, to Tampa. This corridor is one of Florida's fastest growing commercial zones, attracting dozens of new high tech companies each year. The greater Daytona area encompasses Daytona Beach and the surrounding cities, which stretch along the east coast of Volusia County. Each of these cities has much to offer those looking to find their place in the sun, Some might argue that greater Daytona extends as far north as Palm Coast, and as far west as DeLand.

As commerce grows northward from Orlando toward Daytona, real estate and  job opportunities expand. Investors realize the greater Daytona Beach area has lots of potential, and unlike South Beach it's a place where you can still buy property at reasonable prices. Close proximity to Disney World, Sea World, Universal Studios, and the Kennedy Space Center is also attractive. The appeal of bright sunshine and low interest rates makes the area an excellent place to buy investment properties, vacation homes, and retirement homes. Even the threat of hurricanes hasn't dampened the desire to own Daytona real estate . While home prices continue to rise, homes in the area are a bargain, and an excellent investment compared to other parts of Florida and the  U.S.

History and background of Daytona Beach

Daytona Beach has been a popular family vacation destination for more then a century. But it was more speedway then beach in the early days of the automobile. Between 1903 and 1935 some 15 speed records were set on the beach racecourse by Barney Oldfield, Sir Henry Segrave and Sir Malcom Campbell. The racing tradition continues at Daytona Beach International Speedway.

During the day cars may be driven on 11 of the 23 miles of the hard-packed sand. For safety beach driving should be done during a low or outgoing tide and never in the water, however shallow. The speed limit on the beach is 10 miles per hour. Drivers should heed all signs, including those indicating conservation areas, where vehicles are prohibited. Overnight parking or camping on the beach is not permitted.

The beach is not open to motor vehicles between Seabreeze and International Speedway boulevards; south of Emelia Avenue in Daytona Beach Shores to Beach Street in Ponce Inlet; or north of Granada Boulevard in Ormond Beach. A daily beach access toll of $5 per vehicle is charged February through November; tollbooths are at each approach. For Daytona Beach information on beach access call (386) 239-7873.

A wide promenade along the ocean in the center of an amusement area anchored on the south by the Daytona Beach Pier, which features a sightseeing tower and sky ride. The bandshell at the north end of the promenade is the setting for concerts and events. The Ocean Walk Village in Daytona Beach is a new way to enjoy Daytona Beach with your family. There are many restaurants and shops to enjoy in this beachside pavilion including Adobe Gila’s, Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, Johnny Rockets, RJ Gators, Cold Stone Creamery, Starbucks and many restaurants and bars located in the four star Daytona Beach Hilton Hotel at the end of the Ocean Walk Village. The Daytona Beach Ocean Center convention center entertainment and sports complex is located across the street from this complex. There is a pedestrian overpass to connect the Daytona Beach Ocean Center and the Daytona Beach Ocean Walk Village.

Ocean lovers enjoy sailing, boating, surfing, scuba diving and personal watercraft in the Halifax River. The river is also a favorite for scenic boat tours as well as boating, fishing, kayaking and sail boarding.

Mary McLeod Bethune founded Bethune Cookman College for the training of African American women in 1904. It later became an accredited co-ed college. The campus is located off International Speedway Boulevard in Daytona Beach and includes Bethune’s home and gravesite, early buildings and Mary McLeod Bethune Performing Arts Center.

The Museum of Arts and Sciences, a Smithsonian Institution affiliate museum, features 10 galleries that include permanent and changing exhibits as well as a planetarium, an environmental center and garden.

The Daytona Lagoon is a water park located opposite the Ocean Center. It offers a day of fun for everyone with slippery slides, the Pelican Drift lazy river and the Treasure Lagoon. It also features a huge wave pool, multilevel play island and entertainment center with an arcade and mini-golf.

Daytona Beach International Speedway was founded by NASCAR founder Bill France and opened in 1959. Every February fans enjoy the Daytona 500 race and there are 8 other major weekends each year. The busy calendar includes the Pepsi 400 in July and motorcycle events such as Bike Week and Biketoberfest. Daytona Beach International Speedway features a 2.6 mile superspeedway and a 3.56 mile infield road course.

Ormond Beach is located north of Daytona Beach and is a quiet bedroom community to its larger neighbor. Ormond offers miles of beautiful beaches, rivers and forests for you to enjoy. The legendary financier John D. Rockefeller chose Ormond Beach for his winter home. It offers a wonderful quality of life for it’s 37,000 residents and a drive around the loop in Tomoka Park should be part of everyone’s visit to the area.

Don’t miss a drive to the south of Daytona Beach to see the lighthouse at Ponce Inlet. Built in 1887 the 175 foot lighthouse is still in service and visitors can climb up to the top to get a panorama of the entire Daytona Beach area. Also located on the grounds are three keepers’ cottages, a Frensel lens museum, a nature trail and historic boats.

Daytona Beach and Ormond Beach Real Estate Updates:

Daytona Beach Real Estate April 2, 2007
Shannon Summars-Florida Dream Homes LLC

An investment in Daytona Beach area real estate is a wonderful investment in your future. There has never been a better time to buy a new home in Daytona Beach, South Daytona Beach, Daytona Beach Shores, Palm Coast, Ormond Beach or Ponce Inlet. There are currently over 6700 new homes and condos on the market and sellers are offering better pricing and more incentives then we have seen in the past 5 years. If you are looking for a primary residence or a second home you as a buyer have more choices and will be in a good position for negotiating an appealing price with good terms.
The Federal Reserve is keeping interest rates low and the Anderson School of Economics at UCLA recently reported their predictions that interest rates will be lowered further to stimulate the real estate market for a speedy recovery. Long term rate of returns for real estate are historically higher then the stock market and we expect Daytona Beach real estate to continue to grow at leaps and bounds.
The Daytona Beach area has a big advantage over it’s neighbors to the south and the west in Florida. The prices are still affordable to the average family and the quality of life in the Daytona Beach area is much nicer then many overcrowded, overpriced areas throughout the state of Florida. The Daytona Beach area has not suffered the same kind of wild price corrections in it’s real estate markets as some other overvalued real estate markets due to the fact that the real estate prices grow at a slower more steady pace. This allows salaries to keep up with housing prices and does not price the majority of people out of the real estate market.
